While promoting her new film, “The Killers” Katherine Heigl sat down with Leno to talk about the film, her baby girl, and the loss of her brother. Heigl describes how instinctual it was to love Nayleigh and how protective she feels over her daughter as a mother. The actress, who lost her brother in a car accident years ago, gets emotional as she describes how she now understands her mother’s hurt over losing her child.

She may be labeled as a “diva” in Hollywood or an unappreciative A-list actress but all I see is an opinionated, intelligent woman who says what she wants and thinks with her brain.
Katherine Heigl has had a soaring, successful career in the past few years and with a string of successful cinematic hits on her resume and a pile of drama on her shoulders, the Knocked-Up star opens up to Harper’s Bazaar about life after it all and the most important person in her life, her adopted Korean daughter, Nayleigh.
Katherine Heigl is at home in Los Angeles’s Los Feliz neighborhood, pulling cheese after cheese out of her fully stocked fridge.
“This is for us,” she says, beaming as she loads crackers onto a plate. Then she kisses her 18-month-old adopted Korean daughter, Naleigh (a combination of Nancy, for Katherine’s mother and longtime manager, and Leigh, the middle name of her adopted sister, also Korean). “Mommy has to do an interview,” Katherine tells her. “And eat some cheese.”

Spending some mother/daughter time, actress Katherine Heigl took her adopted daughter, Naleigh out for a day to enjoy some retail therapy. The beautiful pair were spotted shopping in Malibu, California.
Naleigh’s arms are by the far the chubbiest and cutest things I’ve ever seen!

Actress Katherine Heigl doesn’t have the greatest reputation in Hollywood. Known for her divalicious and ungrateful ways, the ex-Grey’s Anatomy is trying to clean up her image by admitting that she wasn’t the most appreciative kitten in the litter. She goes on to say that someone in her position should be so grateful for the life she’s living and discusses how it has helped her have Korean-adoptted daughter, Naleigh in her life.
She says:
“That is my fault. I allowed myself to be perceived that way because I was being whiny and I was griping and because I made these snarky comments. So much about living life, to me, is about humility and gratitude. And I’ve tried very hard to have those qualities and be that person and I’m just so disappointed in myself that I allowed it to slip. Of course, of course I’m grateful. How can I not be grateful? I have been afforded such a wonderful life. And to have come this far and to have this kind of success and the freedom and the choices it allows me… The fact that I could even have Naleigh in my life — adoption isn’t cheap — is something to be so unbelievably grateful for. I am disappointed in myself for allowing that perception to exist… There’s nothing more gross than [the idea of] somebody in my position being ungrateful… And I hope that in the coming years I can change people’s minds about that. The six years [I spent on Grey’s] were important years, and I don’t want them to be demeaned. And that’s another reason why I’m so annoyed with myself. I let myself demean something that was actually very beautiful and very important. Like any job, there are ups and downs. But I don’t want to demean what that experience was. I don’t want it to become about this negativity that I’ve spewed.”
