Twilight cast with Justin Chon on the right rocking the blonde hair:
The third episode of “KTOWN Cowboys” is out and in this episode we meet Twilight’s Justin Chon and his obnoxious crew. The boys teach you how to pick up a girl at Korean bar and how easy it is get one with the right attitude and knowing the right people.
I remember a couple of months back when comedian Danny Cho told me he was writing a script about a series called “Ktown Cowboys.” HBO’s “Entourage” meets LA Ktown and I thought it was pure brilliance. It wasn’t until I got a sneak peak of the trailer did I realize he was on the verge of hitting a gold mine.
Watch here:
Justin Chon and Bobby Lee are just a few of the celebrities making a special cameo in the series and I’m itching to see the full first episode. From what I’m hearing, it’ll be pretty darn epic. Watch out for the first episode here on AAtheory!
I wish I was a cool dude who grew up in KTOWN LA because then I would’ve been given the opportunity to take part in this upcoming, kick ass series called “Ktown Cowboys.” Think “Entourage” with a Korean twist, topped with some serious hilarity. I’ve personally seen a teaser for the series and I’m sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the show to launch because I’m 99.9% sure it’ll be the topic of every Asian Americans’ conversations for months to come. But what Ktown Cowboys need is your help! The series stars comedian Danny Cho and his friends plus cameos by Bobby Lee and Justin Chon, so you can just imagine how awesome it’ll all be when it actually comes out.

For all you Twilight fans out there, I know you’re counting down the days until The Twilight Saga:New Moon comes out. On November 20th there’s no doubt in my mind that theaters will be packed with millions of die-hard Twilighters, ranging from adolescent girls to full-grown women, who are excited to see the original cast members reprise their roles as well as a few new faces. What’s new to come? Volturi vampires and werewolves, oh my! Surprisingly, you can also count Justin Chon, who plays “human” Eric Yorkie, as one of the excited people to meet his new co-stars for the first time, too!
He says, “Recently, I had met all the wolf pack, but I finally met Tin[sel Korey] and Bronson [Pelletier] maybe two weeks ago. And I was like, ‘God, I feel like I already know you, but this is the first time I’m meeting you!’ That is so wild… I haven’t met [Dakota Fanning] either…”
Well, if you think about how much the cast has grown since Twilight, it really isn’t all that surprising. Plus, as one of the few “humans” in the saga he probably doesn’t get to be part of the fight scenes or action sequences. Nonetheless, watch out for Justin at a theatre near you!
At this year’s Multicultural Motion Picture Assn.’s 17th annual Diversity Awards, Asian American actors will be awarded some well deserved entertainment honor. Twilight actor, Justin Chon, will be presented with the Male Nova Award while “Heroes” star Masi Oka will be named the best actor in a TV drama.
The Award will be held on November 22nd at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California. Congrats to the nominees and winners!
Aaron Yoo has starred in such hit movies like Disturbia and Friday the 13th. Not only is he a funny actor but he’s got a set of brains to back it up. Yoo graduated from the University of Pennsylvania back in 2001. Hot, talented, and smart. What more could you ask for?
Disturbia trailer:
Justin Chon
If you love vampires, blood, love, and Asian Americans then you know Eric Yorkie aka Justin Chon. Okay so he doesn’t play a vampire in the hit phenomenon, Twilight but since he plays just a normal human, you know he’ll never die and will stick around the films for years to come. So score for us Chon fans! The 27 year old Korean American actor who hails from Garden Grove, California is one of the top rising Asian American actors of 2009 and you can catch the cutie in this year’s “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” opening in theaters November 20th. How adorable is his smile?
New Moon Trailer:
Daniel Henney
Daniel Henney, oh how I love thee! The 29 year old actor first started his acting game in Korea in a string of hit dramas and movies. It take long for Hollywood to notice the fine specimen and before us American fans knew what had hit us, Mr. Henney was found in a trailer for the anticipated film, Wolverwine. Agent Zero, (SPOILER ALERT) if you didn’t perish in that helicopter crash, I would’ve enjoyed the 90 minutes left of the film. Hugh Jackman, I love you, but that movie was a doozie. Not only is the half Korean American star acting in a CBS drama, “Three Rivers,” but he’s quickly becoming one of the top upcoming Asian American actors of 2009.
He is one damn beautiful man:
Rain
Yes, that body is real and yes, Rain is single. Asia’s biggest superstar, Rain, is making it rain (pun intended) in Hollywood folks. The singer turned actor turned back to singer, will star in this year’s Ninja Assassin and everybody and their moms are looking forward to it. He may not be Asian American, but the Korean actor is definitely making waves in the American entertainment business with his strong stature, charming looks, and triple threat ways. He landed his first role in the disappointing Hollywood film, Speed Racer but is now ready to make his mark in Ninja Assassin, kicking its way into theaters on November 25th.
Ninja Assassin Trailer:
Dev Patel
Patel is the kind of boy you want to bring home to mom and dad. Charming, sweet, likeable, and cute as a button. The young British Indian star caught his big break in the Academy award winning film, Slumdog Millionaire and life just hasn’t been the same for the actor. With a beautiful girlfriend in his arms, a role in the 2010 M. Night Shyamalan film, The Last Airbender, Patel is working his way up in Hollywood as a respected actor.
Slumdog Millionaire trailer:
My pick for this list? Love em all, but Daniel Henney takes my choice for hottest upcoming Asian American actor of 2009.
If you’re into the Twilight Saga, you’ll recognize the name Justin Chon from the uber film franchise. This up and coming Korean-American actor has recently lent his talents to a project set in the distant future of flying cars and super duper high tech gadgets. Directed by Jarrett Lee Conway, Turbo is a 20 minute short packed with all the elements needed for a “martial arts” film.
You’ve got your Hero, the Bad Boy, & the Girl:
Hugo Park (Justin Chon) is your average troubled kid who spends all his time playing Super Turbo Arena, a 4D fighting videogame with a really advanced DDR and Wii-like contraption. When added with a pair of sunglasses it makes for an interesting gaming system. Strapped on cash, Hugo decides to bet what rent money he has at the local Pandemonium arcade. There he encounters Ruse Kapri (Alice Hunter), a girl he had fought online and Shamus Bryce (David Lehre), the arrogant gamer who will do anything and everything to get to the top. Hugo loses a game and his money to Shamus and must figure out a way to earn it back. With financial backing from Ruse, Hugo enters a Super Turbo Arena 2 competition held by Pharaoh King (Jocko Sims). It will not only earn him fifty grand, but also a one year contract with Team Overkill, the best gamers in the world of cyber-sports. Down on his luck, Hugo’s in need of some serious help if he’s going to win.
enter Mr. Miyagi :
Of course I’m referencing the cult classic Karate Kid, in which you have the ever loyal mentor that teaches you the ways of avoiding getting your booty handed to you. In this case Miyagi sensei is, Tobias Park (Ilram Choi), Hugo’s older brother and a former fighter who was paralyzed during a kick-boxing match. Originally against Hugo’s gaming addiction, Tobias has a change of heart when he finds out that Hugo created a game avatar in his likeness and was putting effort into earning money to fix his back. Tobias ends up offering wisdom and a few trade secrets such as his “ricochet” move that will prove to be Hugo’s secret weapon in. . .
the Final Battle:
In a just short of epic finale, reminiscent of Streetfighter, Hugo faces Shamus in the final round of competition. Shamus brings on the shame as he cheats to try to claim the top spot. We all know what happens next. The hero almost fails but springs right back up after flashbacks of inspiration give him the strength to whoop the bad boy into oblivion.
It all feels like a re-make of a re-make and technically I don’t think I’ve spoiled the movie for any of you because it’s outright predictable. However, Conway does a good job of story-telling in a short amount of time and all on a limited budget. The special effects are borderline impressive laced with cheesiness, that actually works well for the film. I also admire Justin in the lead role because it gives a different perspective on his range of characters. Although giving an Asian the main role in a martial arts movie can be considered type-casting, the fact that this character doesn’t at first suit the lanky Justin makes it more intriguing to watch. So if you’ve got time to spare, watch a non-vampire member of Twilight finally have his moment on this free and made available online film.
