Charice to Release International Debut Single & Album

_chaalbumlook1_AATHEORYNote to God, it’s about time!

Charice will officially release her first single, Pyramid in January 2010.  A club-mix version will be available on iTunes sometime this month.  Sean Kingston known for his hit, Beautiful Girls penned Pyramid.  And rumor has it, the track will feature either Kingston or his protégé, Iyaz.  Although, which singer/rapper was chosen and the exact release dates are tight-lipped for now.

During an interview with Balitang America, a Filipino American news program, Cha sang a sample of Pyramid in a cappella.

Pyramid, a world smash hit?

Meanwhile, recent photos of Cha’s dress rehearsal for the music video of Pyramid have been unveiled.

The future diva’s still untitled album is slated for release between January and February 2010 under Warner Bros.’s 143/Reprise Records.  Her label mates include Josh Groban and Michael Buble.

All the stops have gone into creating the album by having some of the best songwriters/producers on board.

Besides David Foster, Diane Warren, and Sean Kingston.  The list includes Billy Steinberg (Madonna’s Like A Virgin, Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors, Whitney Houston’s So Emotional), Josh Alexander (Jojo’s Too Little Too Late), Allan Rich (N’SYNC’s I Drive Myself Crazy), Klaus Derendorf (Josh Groban’s Closer), Mr. Fantastic (The Cheetah Girls) and Drew Ryan Scott (S. Korean Group Super Junior’s Sorry, Sorry).

Songs that might be included in the anticipated album:

Fingerprint

Breathe Out

In This Song

What you think of the songs so far?  Potential singles?

Hopefully throughout the album, Cha’s music team won’t kill her voice with over-sung songs.  Let alone, her stylists don’t over-sex Charice’s look, cough… like the first photo of this post.

Which leads to the next question, will 2010 be Charice’s year?

Have Yourself A Merry Lil’ Xmas with Archie & Charice

Charice certainly has had her share of Davids.  First David Foster, now David Archuleta.  That’s right.  The American Idol, Season 7 runner-up collaborated with the songstress for their smooth, jazzy rendition of the classic carol featured on Archuleta’s “Christmas from the Heart” album.

Searching for the right duet partner to compliment Charice’s range is a tough find.  But for this song, there is no overpowering each other with crazy, oversung high notes.  These two singing together is a sweet treat.

And Charice is making the holiday rounds faster than Saint Nick.  Not once, but twice.  Her vocals shine on the cover, “The Christmas Song” for “A Very Special Christmas Volume 7.”  The album includes festive tunes by other artists such as Colbie Caillat, Sean Kingston, and Carrie Underwood.

When Billie Jean & Bhangra Collide

_signature_AATHEORYIf you tried to emulate the late Michael Jackson’s moonwalk or swaying your zombie claws left to right at least once in your life…please raise your claw.  Only a handful of us in the world are successful or think we are at sliding our heels, MJ style.  But there is the exception with a cross-cultural twist.

Signature, a comedy-dancing duo from England fuses the King of Pop with Bhangra (Punjabi dance music that originated in India and Pakistan).  Suleman Mirza, a British Muslim of Pakistani descent and Madhu Singh, a British Sikh first made waves when they auditioned for last year’s Britain’s Got Talent.

They danced to Tigerstyle featuring Kaka Bhaniawala’s “Nachna Onda Nei.”  A Bhangra song remix of Billie Jean, and Queen and David Bowie’s “Under Pressure.”  Mirza opens with pelvic thrusts and a moonwalk across the stage.  Soon after, a culture clash erupts.  Singh enters as a cleaner interrupting Mirza, busting out some Bollywood-esque and hip-hop moves.  But put two in two together, the guys realize they dance the same beat.

After Signature’s Britain’s Got Talent audition was posted on YouTube, the video surpassed five million views.  They were crowd pleasers with the judges and audience, coming in as runners-up for the final.

What’s more appealing besides their unique act, the two friends are ordinary guys with ambitions.  Mirza, a trainee lawyer.  Singh is a PC World salesman in London’s Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5.  They met in 2000 for a talent show.  A year later, Signature was born.

Despite not winning Britain’s Got Talent, Signature’s careers are rising.  They performed at the “Hit Man: David Foster and Friends” concert in Las Vegas.  Signature also attended The Pearl in the Palms: “Las Vegas Celebrates the Music of Michael Jackson,” a tribute event for what would have been Jackson’s 51st birthday.

And the pair appeared on Oprah, spotlighting the world’s most talented entertainers.

Signature also showed what they could do with a Bhangra Thriller during the Semi-Finals on Britain’s Got Talent 2008.

Signature – Semi Final

These two prove that if you are passionate enough about something your heart is set on accomplishing, anything is possible.  And your ethnicity does not hinder, but solidifies your own Signature talent.  As cliché as that sounds, it’s the truth.

Charice, The Healing Voice

cp_20091022_aatheory

Some people are blessed with unexplainable talents.  Makes you question, does a Higher Power exist?

Well, if you are talking about Charice Pempengco, you know the petite girl from the Philippines with a Jesus Christ Superstar voice, then the answer is yes.

Last May, the next big diva sang her single debut A Note God on The Oprah Winfrey ShowDiane Warren wrote and composed the song, while David Foster served as the producer.  Even though the song was originally sung by whatever happened to JoJo, Charice owns it with her vocal prowess.  And by the way, she’s only 17.

The killer part of the performance is near the end when she sang her soul out, hitting the finishing high note.  As for the audience, they were giving the powerhouse a standing O before she even ended the song.

For laughs: A parody between Oprah & Ellen on Charice.  (For  those that don’t know, Charice made her first American TV debut on The Ellen DeGeneres Show)

I felt the goose bumps on my skin.  Did you?
