For the first time ever, ISA is coming out to the East Coast to perform in the Big Apple. So if you’re near Los Angeles, CA or NYC, check out this sure to be unforgettable event!
Singer/musician AJ Rafael uploaded a video of his cousin’s son performing the Glee version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’” and it brought back so many memories for me.
The first thought that came to my mind when I saw this adorable video was, “Yessss, my family made me do this too.” What did they make me do? Perform during the family gatherings.
It’s all about showing off your talent to the relatives whether you like it or not. I admire Rafael’s nephew for being able to memorize the song and just do it. When I was a kid, I was honestly scared to death of doing this for my family. I always dreaded it, but when you’re younger it’s hard to say no to the encouragement of your parents and relatives. You had to do at some point during the party. Luckily, regardless of the outcome, there was always an abundant amount of praise and love.
So, I guess this is common thing to do in Pilipino families but I’m curious. Even if you’re not Pilipino, has your family made you do this too when you were younger?
So I guess the new thing on Youtube is to cover B.O.B.’s “Airplanes” and if you’re an Asian YT superstar and you haven’t covered this awesome song then apparently you’ve missed the cool boat of coolness because all the popular kids are doing it. Let’s take a look at the best “Airplane” covers:
It’s that time of year again where we thank the alpha female in our households for all that she’s done for us throughout our lives. AAtheory would like to take the time out to wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day with some Mother’s Day videos from some of our favorite AA Youtube entertainers. Happy Mother’s Day folks.
But first, just watch this Mother’s Day clip and go hug your mom.
After teasing us with a trailer that promised so much visually and musically, it’s finally here. Yesterday, AJ Rafael and Wong Fu Productions released the MV for Rafael’s single “When We Say (Juicebox).”
The MV is exactly what the teaser promised. The attention that was given to fully express the meaning of the song was wonderfully done. It highlighted every point of the opening comments to the MV:
Love and relationships are never like the movies no matter how much we want them to be. But when something beautiful ends, for whatever reason, it’s most important not to be disappointed that it’s over, but glad that it happened at all.
Consider me easily moved by lyrics and images, but the climax of the video definitely got me. Wong Fu did an amazing job and they continue to outdo themselves each time.
Also, did anyone catch the appearance of another YouTuber star in the MV? Well, before the ending credits rolled I mean.
As the princess of pop once sang, “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme More,” AJ Rafael, give me more. The talented Youtube musician has released a teaser for his single, “When We Say,” and the production of the MV looks spectacular. Wongfu has only gotten better over the years with their quality and editing skills and I’m itching for the entire music video to be released. I’m a huge fan and supporter of anyone who works hard for their dream and AJ Rafael is a prime example.
As a big thank you for hitting 100,000+ YouTube subscribers and getting featured on Times Square, Jennifer Chung is holding a music video contest with some awesome prizes. There are three simple rules:
1) Must use a Jennifer Chung original song which could be found in my videos or on iTunes
2) Cannot just be a cover of you singing my song. A concept and story is desired.
3) Upload your music video onto YouTube and submit it as a video response to this video by April 11, 2010 by MIDNIGHT (PST)
I love these types of contests because they get the creative juices flowing and bring out the artistic side in regular folks like you and I. Don’t let the small challenge of creating a concept and storyline deter you! You never know what your abilities are until you try, PLUS you’ll have a chance to win a free ticket to “the happiest place on Earth”–Disneyland! If you happen to win but won’t be able to make the trip, don’t fret. Jennifer Chung has the solution. The judges will include: AJ Rafael, Jane Lui, Melissa Polinar, Paul Dateh, and Ninja Drops.
Jay Sean’s “Down” is definitely one of today’s ubiquitous songs. The song is literally everywhere and it’s one of those songs that you just can’t pass up.
I mean, everyone on YouTube has just about done acover of it and it wouldn’t have been long before YouTube star, AJ Rafael did his own rendition of it as well.
Though, he did not do this one alone. With his friends from Boston — bandmate, Andrew Rhim and YouTube’s most popular R&B group, AHMIR, they delivered a wonderful cover of Jay Sean’s “Down.”
The harmonies in this video cover are just amazing! This has not been the first time that AJ Rafael has done a cover with these fellows. AJ covered Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” with Andrew’s accompaniment.
And with AHMIR, they did a phenomenal job covering N*SYNC’s “I Thought She Knew.”
It is really not surprising to see these covers done so well, right? AJ, Andrew, and AHMIR are really that good.
AJ Rafael and the guys of Barkada Inc. with the help of the Mahal Foundation have gone to the Philippines to directly help the Typhoon Ondoy victims.
They have been in the Philippines since February 1st and will continue to do their Ondoy Relief mission till February 8th. During these 7 days, they’ve been helping the orphanages and the Ondoy victims with the items they have provided from the money they’ve raised.
Also to keep everyone updated and to share their experiences during this trip, AJ Rafael and Barkada Inc.’s have been sending updates through their “Love Will Heal” blog at BakitWhy.com/LoveWillHeal, which you can follow here.
An excerpt from AJ’s Twitter shows an example of one of the experiences he had there:
What AJ Rafael and Barkada Inc. are doing is just one example of how people are doing their part to help.
After all, it really has not been that long since Typhoon Ondoy hit the Philippines. It definitely has not been that long since the Haiti Earthquake.
With all that has happened before and after these events, it really is a time where we as people need to do what we can to help out, whether it is through donations or direct relief. In time, “love will heal.”
It really has been awhile since AJ Rafael’s last video upload on YouTube, and his newest video upload makes up for the lost time.
The AJ Rafael Band, which consists of AJ Rafael, Andrew Rhim, and Noah Bartfield did a lovely medley of songs that they titled “Bad Romance Medley.”
I honestly thought it was going to be a medley of a number of Lady Gaga songs, but it’s actually a medley of other artists.
The AJ Rafael Band’s Bad Romance Medley includes their version of these songs:
John Mayer – Slow Dancing in a Burning Room
Kings of Leon – Use Somebody
Lady Gaga – Bad Romance
Lifehouse – Hanging by a Moment
I enjoyed the chill atmosphere of the video. It fits well with the mellowness they bring to each of the songs and then the transition to “Bad Romance” totally switches it up. Nicely done. Nicely done.
