I’m sure the following clip is really not meant to offend you, but I’ll let you be the judge. In the premiere of comedian Wanda Sykes’ new show, there was a segment called “Inappropriate Games.” Now with a name like that we all know it’s gonna be good and is bound not only to get a few laughs, but also to get someone’s underoos in a twist. To avoid being “crass and rude,” Wanda had her friend Portia host the game. That day’s game in relation to Asian Americans was called “Know Your Asians.” The object of course is to determine where a given Asian celebrity is from.

Insert the “uh ohs” here. . . This could go one of two ways, you can laugh along or you can take offense and feel its all in bad taste. The way I see it,  any words or explanations they have for their answers can be misunderstood or misconstrued for something else.  The panel knows it themselves and despite warnings of  ”be careful,”  what ends up being aired points out that some Asians look dark, unfriendly, or have small butts on account of their ethnicity. So shall we feel displeased by this? We were given a warning at the beginning with the inappropriateness of their task, but in the end why choose Asians to be their first victim? Will we be seeing future installments with other races and if we do would that make this segment any more acceptable to those who were annoyed by it?
