The other day, I scrolled down the page on a-tunes in search of fresh talent. To my eyes and ears, I stumbled across two of the many YouTube music stars, Mike Isberto and Krystle Tugadi.
These SoCal Filipino-Americans are solo artists, but get together for the occasional acoustic duet. And I’m glad they did. Because, the pair’s performances bring out a raw soulfulness that is rarely heard in today’s mainstream music scene.
Watch when Mike & Krystle covered Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams” on FRA Live (Future Rockstars of America)
Listen to Krystle belt out Alicia Keys’s “Fallin,” while Mike strums his guitar at CSULB’s Typhoon Ondoy Benefit Concert
Something about acoustic stages I feel attracted to. There’s no sugarcoatedness. Just the chemistry between singers’ voices and an instrument brings out an intimate sound. Nothing else.
Mike’s been getting a lot of love lately. I’m glad cause it’s well deserved!
btw, thanks for the a-tunes plug!
Filipinos love their acoustics don’t they lol but yes they got good voices.
