Isn’t the poster just adorable? I want it hanging in my room. No lie.
On September 3, 2009, a new independent film was released for a limited amount of theaters nationwide. That movie was White on Rice, starring Hiroshi Watanabe and directed by Dave Boyle. Okay, so here I go with the plot (which actually sounds like a winner! Yay!)
Jimmy is a tad bit immature for his age of 40 years. He loves dinosaurs and sleeps on the top bunk, which he shares with his 10-year-old nephew, Bob. Bob (Justin Kwong), on the other hand, is a tad bit mature for his age. The two make an amazing duo. Jimmy, a new divorcee, stays at his sister’s home while searching for his perfect bride-to-be. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have much luck with the ladies (I wonder why?), but when his brother-in-law’s niece (Lynn Chen) moves in, he believes he has found the woman of his dreams. The only problem is that his (overwhelmingly hot) best friend (James Kyson Lee from Heroes) has his eyes set on her as well. Oh my, I smell a comical love triangle.
I love me my romantic comedies. But I especially love movies like this one. You know, heartwarming and touching and hilarious all at the same time. The only downside is that it isn’t playing in any theaters near me. I’ll have to wait until it releases on DVD to try it out for size.
Here’s the trailer. Feel free to laugh your booty off at any time.
is there a link to the trailer?? because i don’t see anything ._.
this story sounds really adorable– and not so obviously “asian”… i guess i gotta hope blockbuster will carry it at some point
