But you know her as Lane Kim from the hit television show, Gilmore Girls. Lane had always been one of my favorite characters on the show; she was spunky, intelligent, witty, and absolutely adorable. Really, I couldn’t find one flaw with her character. Well, her mother was a major problem, but they’re just related by blood. Heck, not all traits are passed down genetically. That’s for sure.

Born as Christine Keiko Agena on October 3, 1973, this Japanese-American actress made her mark on the ABC Family channel as Lane on Gilmore Girls and has guest starred in several other television shows, including Without a Trace and Felicity. She begun acting at the age of ten, when she realized that sports just weren’t her thing and she needed another hobby. I’d say it’s a good thing she dropped athletics. Her first television role was in the 1993 show, Renegade, where she played Mitsuko. After that, she guest starred in shows like ER, Beverly Hills, 90210, and Strong Medicine. Soon after, she landed a regular part in Gilmore Girls.

The Hawaiian (born in Honolulu!) actually received “Best Female Actor” at the Ammy Awards, which recognizes Asian/Asian-American talent in the entertainment industry, along with Lucy Lui (Ally McBeal), Ming-Na (ER), and Tia Carrere (Relic Hunter). She totally deserves it.

Currently, Agena isn’t involved in any acting projects, but I hope she once again joins the acting bandwagon because not only I, but a crapload of people who religiously watched Gilmore Girls, miss her!
